What You Need to Know about Samsung Folding Phones

One of the biggest innovations in smartphones in recent years is that of the folding phone screen. Samsung were one of the pioneers of this new form of phone. Since its launch there has been a number of questions surrounding the product such as the robustness of the mechanism, the sensitivity of the screen and the ease of use which is why we have put together the following information so let’s get into it.

Screen Size
One of the main draws of Samsung’s folding phones is that they offer a huge boost when it comes to screen size. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, for example, offers a 6.2-inch OLED cover display. When you unfold it, that is boosted to 7.6 inches for the main screen. But Samsung also offers the Galaxy Z Flip 3, a more affordable option that is 6.7 inches unfolded, if you want the convenience of a flip phone and are less interested in the size of the screen.

Durability
The question of durability was one of the major concerns for the earlier models of Samsung folding phones, but the newer models boast some serious upgrades. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 offers water resistance (but not dust resistance), and now it has a Gorilla Glass Victus display and an Armor Aluminum body. Their new PET film layer also gives the main screen a durability boost. The same is true for the Galaxy Z Flip 3, and that is 80% more durable than the Galaxy Z Flip models.

Camera Quality
Anyone who is upgrading from a previous model of Samsung folding phones may not notice a huge amount of difference with these newer ones. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 cameras have a 10MP selfie camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera and a 12MP wide-angle camera, the same as the previous models with some updated software. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 cameras have a 12MP telephoto camera, as well as a wide-angle camera and an ultra-wide camera. Compared to some of the non-folding phones on the market, these may not be quite as sharp.

Performance
The Samsung folding phones offer some impressive hardware to make performance one of their biggest selling points. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 has 12GB of RAM boosted by a Snapdragon 888 chip for fantastic swift performance. The Snapdragon 888 chip is also on the Z Flip 3, which has 8GB of RAM. Performance is not going to be an issue.

Battery Life
The battery life on both the Z Fold 3 and the Z Flip 3 are mostly holding steady from the previous models. The former has a slightly smaller battery than the Z Flip 2, while the Z Fold 3 has the same battery size as its predecessor. With boosted hardware, this does mean that there will be less time between charges.

Final Thoughts
Samsung’s folding phones are a great choice for anyone who wants either the convenience of a small model or the boosted screen size of the larger Z Fold 3. Tech is advancing so quickly right now and we all want to make sure that we are ahead of the curve when it comes to our phones. When it comes to Samsung folding phones, they are more durable and perform better.
